Barry ClareMember of Mid Europa's Industry Advisory Board
Barry Clare has extensive experience in the healthcare
industry. Most recently, he set up an over-the-counter business,
Healthcare Brands International (HBI), which acquires and
commercialises underexploited healthcare products and was sold
successfully to Meda. Before
HBI, Barry established Clarat Partners, which helps companies
develop their businesses internationally and it advises technology
developers on the commercialisation of their innovations. Clarat
also carved out Betapharm from Hexal, which he later exited
for US$460 million. Between 1991-2001, Barry created Boots'
international "over the counter" consumer healthcare business,
which was sold to Reckitt Benckiser for £1.93 billion. Barry was
non-executive director of Standard Chartered Bank.
