Hortex Acquires Jurajska
Hortex, MidEuropa’s leading consumer company in Poland active in frozen and juice categories, announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Jurajska. The transaction is subject to anti-trust clearance and is expected to close in Q1 2019.
Jurajska is one of the leading independent players in branded natural and flavoured mineral water in Poland. Jurajska water originates from a deep, geologically isolated source in ecologically clean and protected region of Polish Jura, which results in unique characteristics – pristine purity, balanced and stable mineral composition rich in calcium and magnesium and low in sodium.
Pawel Padusinski, Partner and Co-Head of MidEuropa’s Warsaw office, commented:
“The acquisition of Jurajska further strengthens Hortex’s market position in Poland. It is consistent with our strategy to expand into new and adjacent product categories, both organically and through M&A. By tapping into the large and growing water segment, Hortex will complement its existing beverage portfolio with attractive SKUs.”
Pawel Gurgul, the CEO of Hortex, added:
“We believe in the strength of Jurajska’s brand and its further dynamic growth potential. Hortex’s entry into the water segment is a great opportunity for us to increase the scale of our drinks category and better utilise Hortex’s distribution capabilities and innovations know-how.”
Pawel Caruk, Marek Rodak and Bartosz Malecki supported Hortex management in executing the transaction.
Hortex and MidEuropa were advised by Vienna Capital Partners, Clifford Chance and EY.
