MidEuropa acquired Baltic mobile operator Bite in February 2007
MidEuropa acquired Baltic mobile operator Bite in February 2007 after following the company’s developments and connecting with management six months prior to the sales process being formally launched. Bite was the number two mobile operator in Lithuania by revenue, and the number three operator in Latvia.
MidEuropa believed there was a strong opportunity for broadband in Lithuania, which then had poor fixed coverage, and for Bite to leverage parts of its existing organisation and network infrastructure to achieve cost and investment efficiencies.
Bite was sold to financial buyer Providence in February 2016.
Partnership highlights:
- Increased efficiency opportunities through improvement of commercial strategies (pricing strategy, sales channels productivity, commission structure re-shuffling, handset portfolio rationalisation, value-oriented customer service)
- Focused on procurement management and renegotiated most of the agreements with suppliers and partners
- Bite Latvia managed to grow while simultaneously reducing operating costs
- Increased number of subscribers from 1.1m in 2007 to 1.6m in 2013
Value creation:
- Operational Excellence
