MidEuropa initially partnered with Walmark’s founding family in December 2012 and subsequently acquired the founders’ remaining stake in February 2016. Walmark is the largest independent food supplements and over-the-counter (OTC) player in CEE, operating in the premium segment.  Walmark enjoys market leadership across multiple segments and countries, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland and the Baltic states. The Company sells a broad range of dietary supplements and OTC brands through its well-established distribution network.

MidEuropa had identified the food supplements and OTC market as an attractive sector due to its strong growth and regulatory environment favoring the segment in CEE, and approached Walmark shareholders in autumn 2011. Our track record helped us to secure exclusivity, and in the years that followed we supported several add-on acquisitions. By the time of its sale to STADA Arzneimittel in 2020, Walmark was well-established as the leading consumer healthcare platform in Central and Eastern Europe.
