MidEuropa Announces Sale of Cargus to SAMEDAY
MidEuropa, a leading private equity investor with deep roots in Central Europe, announces today an agreement to sell Cargus, the first private courier company on the Romanian market, to SAMEDAY, a regional parcel carrier company backed by eMAG. The transaction is pending approval by the relevant merger control and foreign investment authorities and will be finalised once the necessary approvals have been obtained.
“Throughout our investment in Cargus, we focused on enhancing the company’s digital capabilities. By developing accessible, user-friendly solutions and launching a state-of-the-art mobile app, we enabled seamless package tracking, returns, and streamlined communication across all customer segments. These innovations significantly improved the end-to-end customer experience”, said Alain Beyens, Partner at MidEuropa.
“We welcome this natural step in our company’s journey as it means more opportunities to invest in our business and people to continue improving services we provide to our customers. We would like to thank MidEuropa for their unwavering support over the past years. Their strategic guidance and investment in technology and customer experience were instrumental in transforming our business and setting a strong foundation for future growth. We are excited to embark on this new chapter together with SAMEDAY and help build one of the leading logistics companies in the region”, said Belgin Bactali, CEO Cargus.
MidEuropa’s exit from Cargus follows a series of landmark exits for the firm this year, including the sale of Optegra to EssilorLuxottica, the sale of Regina Maria Group to Mehiläinen, the closing of the sale of Profi to Ahold Delhaize, and the successful IPO of Diagnostyka on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. As a result of the strong exit momentum across its portfolio, MidEuropa is pleased to report an expected record year of over €2 billion in realised proceeds to its investors.
The transaction was executed by Rustam Kurmakaev, Valentina Giambasu, and Ivo Cavrak (legal). Advisers to MidEuropa included: Rothschild & Co (financial adviser), RTPR (legal counsel), PwC (financial and tax), and Kearney (commercial).
